CrashShan Koe Mee (Shan Koe Mee) — how to play
Shan Koe Mee is one of Myanmar's most beloved card games, played with a standard 52-card deck. Between 2 and 6 players can sit at one table. A Banker deals the cards and gives each player 3 cards.
When card values are added together, only the last digit counts (for example, 14 becomes 4). 9 is the highest possible point, and 0 is called "tate" (bust). Every face card (Jack, Queen, King) counts as 10, but since the last digit is 0 it adds no points — and you can draw 1 more card.
The Banker role rotates so that every player at the table takes a turn as Banker. Players compare their points against the Banker's cards, and any player with a higher point total wins. Please follow table etiquette: behave respectfully and do not interrupt others while they are playing.
Main Rules
- Each player receives 3 cards. Add the points of all 3 cards together and take the last digit as your score.
- Point 9 = Shan Koe Mee — an instant winning hand.
- When points are tied, the Banker wins (see the table rule based on card count for details).
- The Banker reveals their cards last.
- If a player holds 3 cards of the same suit, it is a Special Hand and pays out a higher reward.
- Set a bankroll limit and only play with money you can afford.
| Point | Term (Myanmar) | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | Shan Koe Mee / Nine Points | Highest — revealed immediately |
| 8 | Eight Points | Second highest |
| 7 | Seven Points | Good hand |
| 0 | Tit (Zero Points) | No points |
| Three of a kind | Special Hand | Extra Payout |
Shan Koe Mee is a game of chance. No strategy or technique can guarantee a win. Always play within a spending limit you are comfortable with.
